Easy 3-Ingredient Peanut Butter Bone Biscuit
Easy & Fun Dog Cookie Recipe
(100% dog-safe, holds clean bone shapes without spreading)
Prep time: 10 mins | Bake time: 18–25 mins | Makes: ~20–30 biscuits (depending on cutter size)
Ingredients:
-
2 cups wholemeal flour (or rolled oats blended into oat flour for sensitive tummies)
-
1/2 cup natural peanut butter (Must be 100% peanuts—strictly check that it is xylitol/birch sugar-free and contains no added salt or sugar)
-
1/2 cup unsweetened pumpkin puree or mashed ripe banana
-
2–4 tbsp water (only as needed to bring the dough together)
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven: Heat oven to 175°C (160°C fan-forced) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
-
Make the dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, natural peanut butter, and pumpkin (or banana). If the dough feels too crumbly, add water 1 tablespoon at a time until a firm, pliable ball forms.
-
Roll: Lightly dust your bench with a little extra flour. Roll out the dough to about 5–6 mm thick (thinner makes crunchy treats; slightly thicker makes softer biscuits).
-
Cut: Press the bone cutters firmly into the dough, give a slight wiggle, and place the cut-outs onto your baking tray. Gather scraps, re-roll, and repeat.
-
Bake:
-
For regular treats: Bake for 18–20 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
-
For crunchy, long-lasting treats: Bake for 25 minutes, then turn the oven off and leave the biscuits inside with the door slightly ajar for another 30–45 minutes to dehydrate.
-
Cool: Allow to cool completely before serving.
Dog-Safe "Icing" (Optional Decorating Paste)
If customers want to pipe or frost details onto the baked bones:
-
Ingredients: 2 tbsp plain Greek yoghurt mixed with 1 tbsp smooth natural peanut butter (or pure tapioca starch mixed with a splash of water for a hard-setting white "royal icing" glaze).
-
Dip the baked bones or pipe directly on top!
